Finally Friday

Quiet day here, finally. Things have been hectic with company from out of town, getting ready to take a trip, my youngest son's upcoming 18th birthday, etc. etc. So today was a restful reprieve from all the running around I've had to do lately, and it was also an opportunity to knock out some swap cards. These chunky (4x4) pages are for a monochromatic swap at www.atcsforall.com.

Trying to keep up....

So as mentioned before, my friend Roc (see link @ right) + I are in a year-long monthly "chunky book page" (4x4) trade. We alternate selecting a theme for a month. Roc picked "vintage woman" for May. Now it's only April, so technically I am ahead. However, Roc has completed her pages through June. I'll never catch up, so that's why I'm simply trying to keep up.... Anyway, here is my page for Roc for May. Techniques: paper layering, rubber stamping, slightly distressed collage sheet images (woman from Lisa Kettell--see link @ right), glitter, fiber. I wanted to stick a feather in her cap, since her outfit and hat are feathers, but Roc stuck a feather in the cap of the one she made for me, and I didn't want to be a copy-cat(hy).

Online Workshop

Time to spill the beans: for the past 3 weeks I've been taking an online workshop at www.altered-diva.com. It was a 6-week class. (I started late + had to catch up.) I don't really care for my finished products; I made mistakes in every lesson! But I had a blast + learned a lot, so with some practice, it should all get better.
Anyway, these are my 3 c0mpleted works.

Earth Mother

This is an art doll I made for a swap that I'm part of in one of my flickr groups. (Flickr is where my online art gallery is, see link at right.) The criteria was to make an art doll that included an altered domino. I used a collage image on the domino to create the torso; I then added beaded arms and legs, a polymar clay face, and fiber for hair, etc. I also used alcohol inks on the torso sides and back. The doll is about 6-7" tall.
